The Council recognizes a broad range of innovations, including but not limited to digital technology, sustainability solutions, social impact tools, industry transformation strategies, and scalable products that address real-world challenges.

Yes. Candidates may be nominated by others or submit their own applications through the official nomination portal during the call for entries. All submissions are reviewed against the Council’s selection criteria.

All entries are evaluated by a panel of experts based on innovation, impact, scalability, relevance, and alignment with Africa’s development priorities. Only the most outstanding solutions are selected for recognition.

Yes. Previous nominees and awardees are welcome to apply again, especially if they are presenting new or significantly evolved work that reflects continued innovation and expanded impact.

02. Judge Section Process:

How are judges selected for the Dratech Innovation Award?

Judges are selected based on their expertise, experience in their respective fields, and their alignment with the goals of the awards. All applications are carefully reviewed to ensure a diverse and knowledgeable panel.

The judging process typically spans a few weeks, with flexible timeframes to accommodate busy schedules. You’ll receive guidelines outlining submission review periods and expected deadlines.

No prior judging experience is required. As long as you have expertise in your field and a passion for innovation, you’re encouraged to apply. Training and evaluation criteria will be provided.

Judges will be assigned specific submissions based on their expertise. This ensures that each project is reviewed by the most qualified individuals, providing a fair and balanced assessment.

While the position is voluntary, judges receive formal recognition, a certificate of appreciation, and professional visibility on Dratech platforms. You also gain access to networking opportunities with other experts.

Transparency is key. Judges must disclose any conflicts of interest, and you will be recused from evaluating submissions where a conflict exists to maintain fairness and integrity.

After reviewing applications, selected judges will receive an official email notification, outlining the next steps, including the judging timeline, criteria, and instructions on how to proceed.

03. Compliance and Integrity:

Integrity of Entries:

All information provided in the application must be truthful, accurate, and complete. Any form of misrepresentation, plagiarism, or intellectual property infringement will result in immediate disqualification and potential legal action

Participants may be required to enter into a confidentiality agreement to protect the proprietary information and trade secrets of all entries. Judges and organizers are also bound by confidentiality to ensure that all submissions are protected.

Offering any type of incentive to judges, organizers, or any other party involved with the administration of the award is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification and potential legal ramifications

Participants must ensure that their entries and their conduct comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances, both locally and internationally

04. Judging and Decisions:

Decisions made by the judging panel are final and binding.
There will be no appeals or reviews of the judging decisions. Participants must accept these terms upon entry

Unsolicited materials sent to judges or organizing members will not influence the competition’s outcome and may result in disqualification.

Participants must disclose any relationships that could be viewed as a potential conflict of interest with the judging panel or award organizers. Failure to disclose such information may lead to disqualification.

05. Participant Responsibilities:

All entries must be submitted by the deadlines specified in the application materials. Late submissions will not be considered, and there are no exceptions to this rule

By entering the competition, participants grant the organizers unrestricted rights to use their names, photographs, and entries for publicity purposes without compensation

Participants are responsible for all costs associated with their participation in the competition, including submissions, presentation materials, and any associated travel if required

Participants may withdraw from the competition at any time. However, organizers also reserve the right to disqualify entries that fail to adhere to the competition’s rules and standards without notice.
